30 Day History of the #SMMOC Hashtag – Infographic

What are Infographics? They are images created to explain a particular idea or dataset. They often contain beautiful graphics to increase their appeal and help catch your attention. Many of them use data visualizations.
In the infographic example below, I have used a free template provided by Visual.ly that analyzes and visualizes the number of times that the hashtag #SMMOC (SMMOC, a Meetup that I regularly attend) has appeared on Twitter in the past 30 days, as well as identify some influential Twitter accounts that mentioned the hashtag.

How this graphic was created
In the example above, hashtag “appears” or is “mentioned” any time a Twitter user creates a tweet containing the hashtag. The total number of appearance per day is graphed. The number of appearances on the first day, peak day, and last day in the 30-day period are highlighted. If a hashtag is either winding down or ramping up, the peak day may coincide with either the first or last day in the range.
Influential Twitter accounts mentioning the hashtag are identified on the first day, the peak day, and the last day in the 30 day period. Influence is determined by the number of people following a given account.
Twitter accounts identified as Top Influencers are accounts that created the most positive or negative tweet content based on sentiment analysis. These are accounts that used strong language alongside the hashtag.
